Established in 2020, Equitrans is founded on the principle of safe, and reliable horse transportation by people who understand and have a passion for equine welfare.

CEO John Kearney grew up surrounded by horses, learning the responsibility and care they require from a young age. Alongside his father and brother, he helped care for the family’s horses, gaining hands-on experience that shaped both his work ethic and respect for equine welfare.

This foundation enabled John to buy, sell, and breed his own horses, deepening his understanding of the importance of correct handling, careful planning, and stress-free transportation. These experiences gave him first hand insight into what owners, trainers and breeders need and expect when entrusting their horses to a transport provider.

The establishment of Equitrans in 2020 was a natural progression of John’s lifelong connection and experience in the Equine industry. John recognised the need for an equine transport company that combined professionalism with knowledge and experience.

Today, Equitrans continues to grow, guided by the values it was built on: safety, reliability, and care and respect for the horses and ponies entrusted to its care. From short local trips to long-distance transportation across Ireland the UK, the Equitrans team understand that every horse is different and every journey matters and work tirelessly to provide seamless communication, and transportation that their valued customers can trust.

The Equitrans Team are diligent, excellent communicators with customers from booking through to delivery. Our priority is the safe and timely delivery of all stock and top class care during transit.
